There is a reason that 80% of the participants in the Austin Marathon and Half Marathon come from outside the Austin area. Actually, there are dozens of reasons. Here are just a few:

  • Cool Austin Music at the Paramount Theater on race weekend.
  • The loop course with a downtown start and finish allows walking access to the start and finish from numerous quality hotels. This means no shuttles or parking issues.
  • The vast array of downtown restaurants accommodates every taste and budget.
  • This year the race is on Valentine’s weekend so you can have a romantic getaway AND participate in a race. 
  • Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World.
  • We have the world famous Barton Springs Pool.
  • Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, and Lance Armstrong all live here.
